About me, Aunt Vickie Animal Nanny
My story begins from birth as we had a small holding with chickens, a horse, pigs, 2 dogs and a couple of cats we had rescued. Apparently all I would do was play with the animals in the mud and talk to them all day!
We then moved so had to get rid of the horse and chucks, I was devastated. We moved to our main family home in Winchester where we had a Sheltie dog called Carla and she came everywhere with us. We then got another dog called Sophie who was a Blue Border Collie and had blue eyes, she was so beautiful – us kids were in love with her.

We had a lodger with an Alsatian called Charlie – suffice to say that Charlie and Sophie ended up having pups and I had one of them and called her Blue – she meant everything to me, we went everywhere together, she used to SAS crawls across the floor. It broke my heart she passed away.

My sister had lots of dogs too, at one time there were 22 dogs in our house, I was in my element!
My friends always take the mickey out of me as I’m always seeking out dogs to fuss, in fact quite often if I go to the pub with friends, I’ll be off making new friends with the dogs in the pub!
I lived in London for a while, but it never really felt like home as I couldn’t have a dog (it wouldn’t have been fair to have it cooped up in a flat all day whilst I was working). I did own snakes and fish though – anything to have animals in my life.
In 2015 I moved to Newark as wanted to get out of London, even though I continued travelling into London every day for my job. I now live in a small village called Dry Doddington, near Newark, and I love it here - it really feels like home. I was so excited as it meant I could finally get a dog again! But because we were both working in London it still wouldn't have been fair, so again the plans got put on hold.

I have had 4 cats since being here though - Timba (Bengal), Monkey 1 (Russian Blue), Monkey 2 (Russian Blue) and Scraps - the latter of which was a rescue and a real handful!

Instead I would always offer to walk and look after everyone else’s in the village. I then met Aunt Sally Animal Nanny and couldn’t believe she was walking dogs as a full time job! I was soooo envious as that would have been my dream job.
In 2019 my father passed away and I was devastated, so much so I decided that I needed to make changes to my life to make me happier. I realised that being successful wasn’t about the amount of money you earn but being happy in what you do. I gave up my job in London and took some time out.
I decided to follow my dream and studied for canine care and dog boarding, took my exams and passed with flying colours. I really enjoyed it and then decided to train alongside the long established and well respected Aunt Sally to gain the experience and learn from the best.
Now I've got my dream job as Aunt Vickie Animal Nanny and I absolutely love it. This wouldn't have been possible without my Dad, so this is for you Dad.
